News you can Use!
January 2012

There's a lot going on here at Tri-Star... so much that we had to print a whole newsletter just to tell everyone about it! And so here it is, our Winter 2011 "News You can Use!"

Open House and Family Fun

We have been able to expand our gym into space just north of us, helping to develop a new cheer program. We are inviting the entire Tri-Star family to join us for a New Year
Open House to see the brand new North Gym.

We are holding Open House from 4:30 to 5:30pm, concurrent with a special Free Family Fun on Saturday, January 14th, so kick off your shoes and join in! Yes, we hope to be crowded and we have a 4th trampoline in the North Gym.

Open House is FREE but we will be selling raffle tickets. Raffle winners will get their choice of prizes:
- One free class for Spring Session.
- Free leotard or T-shirt
- Free Family Fun Pass
- 1 Hour Private Lesson (your choice of coach)

Raffle tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets or $10 for 15 tickets or $20 for 40 tickets.

Make-ups

Make-up must be completed within the session and no more than 3 make-ups per session allowed. You must schedule a makeup with the office at least one day ahead of time. We are only able to offer make-ups during classes that are not filled in order to maintain appropriate student-teacher ratios (see policy information).

New Doctor in Town

Right here in our building (one door north of ours) there has been a flurry of activity as the father of one of our pre-team boys has been setting up his chiropractic office. Doctor Rimas "Ray" Novickis is setting up here after over15 years practicing in Berwyn and Riverside. The Novickis' son, Matas has been thoroughly enjoying Tri-Star for 5 years already, which has given the staff plenty of opportunity to get to know Dr. Ray. Unfortunately the times we see him most is when we're hurting. His existing informal affiliation with our organization makes his move here a convenient treat. His satisfied clients/patients here at Tri-Star have included Coach Margie Gilchrist, Coach Kari Gilchrist, Coach Gennadiy Volovichev, Coach Erik Howorth, Coach Nikki Wright Weston, Coach Cuffey Roberson and Coach Heather's husband, Dillon Wood. One of Dr. Ray's areas of expertise is sports injury, so sprains, tendonitis and any number of inflammatory syndromes (Osgood's, shin splints, plantar fascitis, etc) are things he can help you with. He'll also advise when you need to see an Orthopod or get an X-ray. Consultations are at no charge to Tri-Star clients, so feel free to either come by or call him at 708-484-1111. If there's a concern, he'll be happy to talk with you.

Fundraising at its Best

Have you ever heard of Melaleauca?

It's a plant that grows in Australia producing an oil that has outstanding medicinal properties. Melaleauca (the Wellness Company) offers hundreds of products; fro vitamins and health products to chemical-free cleaning products for kitchen, bath, body and beauty. Tri-Star Gymnastics just joined the organization to earn extra money from sales of these wonderful products. Coach Margie Gilchrist has used Melaleuca in her home for the past nine years and highly endorses this fine company. A Wellness Representative, Melissa Wicklow, will be available to display and demonstrate a variety of products this company offers. Melissa will be here during our OPEN HOUSE on January 14th and can be called for more information at 708-848-0262

Family Fun

Tri-Star will NOT host family fun on December 24th, 27th or 31st. Our regular schedule will resume Tuesday, January 3rd.

Tuesdays, 11:30am to 12:30pm and Saturdays 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Cost is $5 per child. For safety reasons, only two children per adult.

Family Fun will be FREE on Saturday, January 14th for Tri-Star's Open House.

Snow Days

Tri-Star does not automatically cancel classes when the school districts shut down for the day. Often morning conditions warrant closure, but by the time the afternoon rolls around the weather has cleared or the plows have done such an excellent job it is unnecessary to restrict travel.

If our coaches can safely get to work, we will have class. Please contact our office to check if you are uncertain about classes.

Parent's Night Out

Remaining dates: January 21st, February 11th, March 17th and April 21st. PNO begins at 5:30pm and runs until 9:00pm. The children are well fed, play games, occasional crafts or a movie and open pit. Tons of fun! $35 for 1st child, $20 for 2nd child and $10 for the 3rd child in the same family. Call or stop by the office to register.

25th Annual Gym show
Saturday, May 19, 2012
